What is a Symposium?

A symposium is a special kind of discussion class where small groups, no more than fifteen participants, meet to discuss a pre-assigned reading selection. Our discussions are led by experienced leaders, who do not act as authorities or experts but as guides, making sure that the conversation stays reasonably on track and focused on the text. They help support the conversation so that the participants gain a deeper insight into the reading based on their own questions. Each symposium begins with a leader asking an opening question. The question serves as a starting point of inquiry into the text. Thereafter, participants enter the conversation freely when inspired.

Please register in person. There is no charge for your first Symposium.
